DP stands for Dwelling policy. HO stands for homeowner policy. Number denotes the policy type (DP1, DP3 etc,). T stands for Texas. DPs are basic dwelling coverage, often for non- owner occupied. While HOs are for owner -occupied policies. The biggest difference between TDP1 and TDP3 are covered perils. TDP1 is for named perils, TDP3 is comprehensive perils. In layman’s term: TDP1 only covers named perils in policy document, such as fire, wind, hail etc. While TDP3 covers all perils except excluded perils, such as earthquake, volcano eruptions.
